ARTIST STATEMENT

My engraving tool became a way for me to explore my emotional world; divorce, childhood trauma, parenthood, awkward social skills…. relationships in general.

I scribble on glass with a marker and see images appear, much like looking at inkblots or up at clouds. It is a way to tap into my subconscious. While engraving I think about what the images mean and who the people are that populate my vessels.

Working through my issues on glass became a full time job for 30 years. Am I “cured”? Far from it. I still find public speaking very difficult and enjoy my alone time. However, I now have stronger relationships and have a degree of satisfaction in life that seemed impossible when I was a younger person.
