I created “Empathy” as a response to the lack of compassion, the egoism and growing indifference I see in our world. The body is contained, almost self-protecting but strong and elegant. The position of the tilted head expresses contemplation and a gesture of empathic consideration. The sculpture is made of amethyst low-expansion outdoor glass. We allowed the glass to vitrify to opaline, creating a soft glow of hues of pink to amethyst, giving the sculpture an overall gentle sensibility.

Vibration is energy. Everything is in vibration and so are we. This Vibrational Deity, is like an enlightened vibrational being. I chose for the Aura of the head, like a scarf with a hollow where the head is supposed to be. Thus, I translate that Divine Energy as a quality that we can all possess.

The outside of the sculpture is polished while the inside is velvet, allowing light to penetrate the layers of white and clear glass, giving the sculpture a mysterious glow, almost like an aureole. I have had this sculpture in my garden for a couple of months now and look at it several times a day. From the early hours of the day till after dawn, this sculpture plays with light in a truly spectacular way. It is never dull but keeps enthralling me with its magical shades of white light.
